The most important rule for living a more homemade lifestyle is to be prepared!  Keep your pantry stocked with all the basics ingredients that you need to put together a homemade recipe.  Here is a list of items
that
I always have on hand!

  • all purpose flour/unbleached flour
  • whole wheat flour
  • semolina flour
  • self rising yeast (cheaper bought in bulk at BJ's)
  • vital wheat gluten (used in whole wheat bread)
  • milled flax seed                                   
  • old fashioned oats                
  • confectioners sugar                                                      
  • olive oil
  • canola oil
  • vegetable oil
  • non stick spray                                                                 
  • coco powder                                                                 
  • baking soda
  • baking powder                                                                    
  • salt and black pepper
  • cream of tartar
  • sugar
  • brown sugar
  • chocolate chips
  • honey
  • vanilla extract
  • almond extract
  • dry spices: red pepper flakes, garlic, cumin, basil, chili powder, cinnamon, dill, oregano
  • dry soup mix : onion, vegetable
  • chicken and beef stock (use can freeze homemade in ice cube trays as well if you don't want to use store bought! recipe coming soon!)
  • can tomato sauce
  • dried pastas
  • wine for cooking: red and white 
                                                                                                                                                                                            

 



                                                    

Make sure to have the following items on hand in your refrigerator too:

  • eggs (I always have the free range-organic ones)
  • butter (freeze some salted and unsalted to have)
  • lemon juice, a lemon (for zest)
  • natural or homemade peanut butter
  • cream cheese
  • mayonnaise
  • mustard
  • bottle of Italian salad dressing
  • vinegar
  • chopped garlic (or cloves of fresh garlic)
